Tongaporutu Coastline - the R-shaped rock at Rapanui, 23 October 2003

Production date
23 Oct 2003
Description
The R-shaped rock taken from Rapanui beach. In the foreground, rocks have been exposed on the beach by wave action. At times, sand completely covers these rocks, right up to the base of the cliff. To the right of the middleground the R-shaped rock sits, its top covered in vegetation. To the left of the middleground, vivid green lichen is growing on the base of the cliff face. Pat Greenfield calls this area the 'splash zone', where waves reach up the face of the cliff, encouraging moss to grow. In the background Whitecliffs are visible. Photograph taken 23 October 2003.
