Ruru, Mounted

Description
A mounted ruru (morepork) with wings extended and perched on end of a length of wood. The bird is predominantly light brown and the upper wing area has scattered white spots on it. The longer feathers on the wing are also dotted with white however when the wing is extended it gives the effect of stripes. The feathers around the neck and lower back are in poor condition and appear to have been plucked The wood is mounted on a piece of wood with bevelled edges. There are two plaques attached to the wood. The first is an attribution plaque that states " DONATED TO / OTAKEHO SCHOOL / BY MR & MRS P.C. VERBEET " and the second plaque is a Wildlife Service identification number.
