Chains of Office
Description
The commemorative chains of office for the Chairman of the Taranaki County. The chain is hung on a black and yellow ribbon and stored in a lockable wooden presentation box with a plaque that reads " PRESENTED TO THE / TARANAKI COUNTY COUNCIL / BY MRS L.D. HICKFORD 21 - 6 - 74. " The chains feature a circular enamel coloured mountain scene which is raised above a wreath design that encircles it. " CHAIRMAN / TARANAKI COUNTY " is written in enamelled letters above and below the mountain. Names of previous chairmen are engraved on individual name plates on the chain. The presentation box is lined with green flocking and has an alcove in the top quarter which is where the ribbon and the keys are stored when the chains are on display. There is a screw which holds the chains in place for presentation. The box also has a wall mount for security on the bottom centre of the box.
