One book of handwritten observations written by Edward Frederick Hemingway c. 1898-1899. The book consists of 33 pages of notes and two pages of newspaper clippings related to military matters. In his notes he makes reference to the problems with gambling, swearing, lack of historical knowledge and religious education in New Zealand.
