Edward Metcalf Smith is my great, great grandfather. He married Mary Ann Golding and one of their sons was William Joseph Smith. Joe (William Joseph) married Emma Jane Lawrence. Their first born Laurence Edward Smith, is my grandfather. Laurence married Ivy Ellen Upton in 1918 in London when on leave from serving as a stretcher bearer at Gallipoli. Laurence then served at The Somme, returned to England then sailed to NZ with Ivy. They had four sons and one daughter Dorothy Ellen - my mother. Dorothy married Kahutuaiti Wharehoka (Te Atiawa, Taranaki, Nga Ruahine). My name is Vivienne Wharehoka. I am the eldest of Dorothy and Kahu's eight children. Dorothy passed away 2nd March 2022 at the age of 89.
