A Sutlej Medal.The silver medal features a young head profile of Queen Victoria on the obverse. " VICTORIA REGINA " is embossed around the profile. The reverse features a standing Victory figure holding a laurel crown with a pile of weapons at her feet. "ARMY OF THE SUTLEJ " is embossed around the figure and " MOODKEE /1846 " is embossed underneath it. The medal is attached to a dark blue ribbon with crimson edges by a ornamental scrolled suspension bar. " FREDERICK JOHNSON 50TH REGT " is marked on the edge. The ribbon is mounted on cardboard.

This medal was awarded to Frederick Johnson for his service during the Sutlej campaign, India in 1846. This medal was donated to Taranaki Museum as part of the collection of prominent south Taranaki lawyer John Houston.
