Haymaking on the Urenui Farm
Description
Photograph of three women and four men on a large haystack. The three women may be sisters Zoe and Florence Watkin Sheard and either their mother Clara Elizabeth Sheard (nee Watkin) or their cousin Bessie. The women are all wearing light tone dresses and sunhats. The man on top of the stack is possibly Albert Sheard, Clara's husband, who was refered to as a "master stacker." There are three other men working on the stack. A light tone horse is in standing in front of the stack and another horse is partially visible on the left.

Hi Gail. My great grandfather, Arthur Rogers Watkin was the younger brother of your great grandfather, John, and I believe they emigrated to NZ together on the ship "Cotopaxi" in 1881. I am working on our family tree, so any info you have from John & Betsy onwards would be great! My grandfather, Job Ernest Watkin moved from Taranaki to Te Aroha some time between 1911 and 1914, and was also a farmer.

My grandmother was Florence Watkin Sheard and her mother was Clara Elizabeth Sheard. Clara's parents were Betsy and John Watkin. Clara was born in Shropshire in England, Albert Sheard was Clara's husband. They had four children; Zoe, Florence, Wynn and Ira.
