Description
A large bulbous salt glazed clay pot titled " Pohutukawa Coast ". The apricot and orange pot is also glazed with green and crimson near the lip. It is fitted with a 'c' shaped handle. Salt and wood fired stoneware.

the
pot's
name
reflected
memories
of
summer
and
the
Northland
east
coast
with
the
volcanic
cliffs
and
the
falling
flowers
from
trees
in
bloom
on
a
still
early
morning
and
the
clear
green
waters
of
the
bays,
inlets
and
harbours.
It
was
fired
in
the
very
first
firing
of
the
large
new
salt
kiln
built
at
Midhirst
by
Margaret
Foley,
Janet
Smith
and
Bev
Rea
with
the
assistance
of
a
Queen
Elizabeth
II
grant.
