This
chair
was
made
by
the
Bathurst
sisters,
Bertha
and
Violet,
some
time
in
the
1940s
or
1950s.
The
Bathurst
family
farmed
on
Tarata
Road,
inland
of
Inglewood
and
the
timber
the
two
sisters
used
for
their
furniture
was
from
their
old
Kaimata
family
home.
Violet
would
draw
the
folk-art
designs
and
Bertha
would
carve
them.
