Invented by Taranaki teenager Ayla Hutchinson, this kindling cracker is number 001 off the production line. It was put up for auction on TradeMe and the bidders went wild. Along with numerous comments of support for Ayla's enterprise, the price continued to rise. The kindling cracker finally sold for an impressive $1000, to another local Taranaki person. It was passed on with a certificate of authenticity. Ayla used the proceeds to purchase two IPads to keep up with the influx of sales and marketing. Three years down the track, with the kindling cracker business well established, the kindling cracker was returned to Ayla who in turn gifted it to Puke Ariki.
