Hand tinted ambrotype studio portrait of Dr Peter Wilson. Wilson is seated next to a table covered with a patterned tablecloth. An open book is resting on the table and a pair of glasses are laid on the open book. Wilson has one arm resting on the table and the other resting on his leg. He is wearing a jacket, a waistcoat, a shirt, trousers and a tie. A fob chain is visible across his waistcoat and a pin is visible in his tie. Wilson's hands and face are tinted pink. The ambrotype is housed in an ornately carved wooden frame that has been painted gold.
