"Koromika"
Production date
Nov 1911
Description
Unframed botanic oil on canvas. Yellow flowers are attached to green foliage and stretch across the top half of the painting. Below the yellow flowers are clusters of small white flowers, and underneath this is pink/mauve foliage. The background of the painting is a mottled green-brown colour.
The species of plant depicted in this painting were identified by Fanny as "Koromika" which is an outdated term for Koromiko. The yellow flowers have alternatively been identified as Runuculus Nivicola, commonly known as snow buttercup or mountain buttercup. The small white flowers are suggested to be Olearia or tree daisies, and the pink/mauve foliage is possibly the Hebe plant.
