Description
In 1991, Rangamarie Maori Arts and Crafts Inc was involved in the 1991 Taranaki Festival of Arts. As part of the Festival programme the Society held public demonstrations of carving and weaving in a marque on Puke Ariki Landing. A totara was felled (from the Okoki Valley) and carved. It was later erected on Puke Ariki Landing and represents the coming together of people.
The records consist of two Rangimarie newsletters/panui outlining plans to be involved in the festivals. And three proposed designs for the pou by Filipe Tohi who was at that time one of the tutors at Rangimarie. Of the three options, it was decided to carve the 1st design.
