A letter written to Robert Parris, at that time District Commissioner in Taranaki, by Donald McLean, Chief Land Commisioner, conveying instructions from the Governor on the purchase of land from local Māori.
McLean advises Parris to study the history and genealogy of local tribes, their claims to the land, and is informed of financial affairs, among other details of land transactions.
