Description
A Defence Medal. The cupro-nickel medal features an uncrowned left facing portrait of King George VI on the obverse. " GEORGIVS VI D:G: BR OMN:REX F:D:IND:IMP" is embossed around the outside. The reverse features two lions flanking a crowned oak sapling. "1939" and 1945" are embossed on either side of this and wavy lines representing the sea appear below. " THE DEFENCE MEDAL " is embossed on the bottom. The centre of the ribbon is orange and the edges are green. There are two thin black stripes running down the green. The medal is mounted as part of group of seven.
