Tongaporutu Coastline - soil bleed on Beach One, 7 March 2004

Production date
07 Mar 2004
Description
A 'soil bleed', as Pat Greenfield refers to it, on Beach One a week after the last of February 2004's trilogy of storms, which happened over three successive Sundays. Soil cliffs above Beach One are prone to collapses like this, as opposed to Beach Two, which has rock cliff faces and thus is prone to rock falls. Bottom third of image depicts rocks that have been exposed on the beach by the storms. Middle third of image is dominated by a large fan of yellow and orange earth that has collapsed from the cliff above. Top third of image depicts cliff face with scraggly vegetation and with a narrow band of blue sky above it. Photograph taken 7 March 2004.
