Biography
Valentines of Dundee was founded in 1851 by James Valentine (1815-1879) of Dundee, Scotland. They specialised in Scottish topographical photography and postcards until the 1960s. Subjects included tourist sites in Scotland, England, Norway, Jamaica, Algeria, Morocco, Madeira and New Zealand (prior to 1900). Note that George Dobson Valentine (1852-1890) moved to New Zealand because of ill-health, and was a well-known landscape photographer here.
